So recently I have been trying out a few home remedies to maintain my hair, skin and nails and here’s what’s really worked for me:

Dry body brushing – I love dry body brushing and its actually slightly addictive! Just before showering, I like to brush my entire body (minus the very sensitive areas). This removes dead / dry skin whilst stimulating circulation, so it is a great way to start the day. Frequent body brushing can also help reduce the appearance of cellulite, so if this is something you struggle with, dry body brushing might be worth a try. I have been loving it to keep my skin soft, smooth and found it a great way to loosen up in the mornings, it’s very relaxing!


Coconut oil – I cant believe I didn’t buy it sooner. It has worked wonders on my skin, nails and hair!! I now see what all the fuss was about. I have slightly sensitive skin, with eczema and general dryness – but this has been a saviour and has so many uses. After showering, I will use coconut oil as a natural moisturiser all over my body and it really is amazing at locking in moisture. It is also fabulous to massage into your cuticles daily, to keep them soft and promote nail growth.


Argan and coconut hair mask – I have been combining argan oil and coconut oil to create a mask in my hair overnight. This has been wonderful in making my hair softer, silkier and shinier. Argan has multiple properties to help hair become generally healthier and stronger, reducing the appearance of split ends and taming frizz. The coconut helps with moisture whilst the argan works on replenishing the hair from damage.

I coat my hair generously in both oils before bed, combing it through to make sure every strand is covered. I usually scrape it back into a twist or a plait to keep it neat and off my face. It wont feel wet, so it will be fine to sleep in, but it will feel greasy. It is a satisfying feeling letting it lock in all that goodness. In the morning, shower, shampoo and condition as usual, and you will instantly notice a difference (it feels so good to run your fingers through once dry!!). I try to do this once a week to keep my hair healthy, shiny and full of life!

Another tip for healthy hair is try to let your hair air-dry if you have time and avoid using straighteners and curling wands daily, as constant heat will dry out and damage your hair. When you do want to style your hair with hot tools, make sure you always use a good heat protection spray.


Castor & coconut lash serum – A new formula I have starting using is a homemade castor oil and coconut oil eyelash serum (yes coconut oil features in everything I use at home because it has SO many amazing uses). This easy home made serum promotes the growth of your natural lashes whilst keeping them nourished and protected. Castor oil is known for boosting blood circulation to the follicles, resulting in faster hair growth. The oil also has omega-6 essential fatty acids, responsible for healthy hair. I purchased two clear, empty mascara tubes off Amazon to put the mix in and apply it easily. I tend to put it on before bed to let it get to work over night.



These are just a few easy ways to beautify yourself at home, using all natural ingredients. I find by making your own formulas with fresh ingredients, the solutions tend to last much longer too. Try to dedicate at least one night a week to pampering yourself in some way, take your make up off and scrape your hair back, paint your nails or simply take a bath. You deserve it!
