BETTER WAYS TO START THE DAY

 

We all know how hard it can be to leave the comfort of the covers in the morning. Here are just a few simple steps you can take to ease the process and set yourself up right for the day ahead.

Put on a mood boosting playlist

Have a small collection of feel good songs to play whilst you get ready, on your phone or your laptop, this will lift your mood even on a grey and gloomy Monday morning.

Make the bed

How satisfying is it to come home at the end of the day and remember you made your bed in the morning? Get organised and do it as soon as you get up, this will also prevent the temptation to crawl back into bed!

Prep your food the night before

This will not only save you time in the morning, but save you money as well. Whip yourself up a lunch for the next day, or a smoothie for breakfast – then leave yourself a post it note on the front door so you remember to take it with you!!

Don’t look at social media when you first wake up

Sure go ahead and check no super important texts have come through while you were sleeping, but then put the phone down for at least an hour. This will give you time to get your day started without distraction and you’ll get your jobs done a lot faster. Save the browsing for your break.

Have a hot lemon water before having any food

Not only does it kickstart the digestive system but it also detoxes the body and helps with your vitamin C intake. With its refreshing and cleansing properties, it’s the perfect way to start the day!

Set your alarm for half an hour earlier than you usually would

How nice is it to look at the time and know you don’t have to get out of bed for at least another 20 minutes? Wake up slowly and relax, rather than jolting out of bed a minute behind schedule.

Have a hot steamy shower

The steam will help clear your head and your mind. Wake up with a peaceful cleanse from head to toe. For me, this is top of the list.

Open a window

Sounds simple, but just letting some fresh air flow around the room, be it in the bedroom or the kitchen, will wake you up and also allow you to check the weather to figure out how many layers you are going to need!

Stretch

Finally, loosen up the muscles. Whether it be a 2 minute hamstring stretch or a half hour yoga session, factoring in a little exercise can make a huge difference to how you are left feeling throughout the day.

 

These straight forward steps can positively influence your mood, attitude and well being on a day to day basis, giving you the best shot at having a great day, everyday!

    Lovely post! I’m the kinda person who gets up 10 mins before having to leave the house – I really need to change that. The idea of preparing a smoothie the night before is a good one

    I'll have to try your tip about opening a window while I'm getting ready 🙂 I love having the windows open in the evening when it's not freezing outside, but cracking my bedroom window open for just a few minutes in the morning to breathe in some fresh air sounds very appealing.
    Your tip for prepping breakfast/lunch the night before is a must-do for me. I'm not a morning gal, so it's crucial for me to prep as much as possible the night before – this even includes picking out my clothes and accessories, too 😉
